Finding Your "Great Good Place"

In an age of fleeting digital connections, where do we find the space to just be?

Sociologist Ray Oldenburg wrote about this modern dilemma in his book, "The Great Good Place." He identified the "third places" as vital community anchors outside the realms of home (first place) and work (second place) and as the heart of a vibrant society. He argued that as these places vanish, so does our sense of authentic community.

These places are getting harder and harder to find. For so many of us, the answer has been found on the mats. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has a way of cutting through the noise and connecting people on a completely different level. It's a space not for escape, but for genuine engagement.

As Chris Wojcik perfectly put it: "It doesn't make sense, but it's given me all my best friends. Somehow, it works."
