What Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu means to me: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the synthesis of physical combat, art, and strategy – all rolled up into one activity that can bring positive physical and mental benefits to anyone’s life, whether they are a casual practitioner or professional athlete.

What Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu means to me: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is my quiet respite from noise and responsibility of daily life. On the mats, I develop strength and humility. I learn technique while expressing athleticism. I test myself mentally and physically while developing resilience and confidence. The community and friendships I’ve developed since beginning this journey are truly remarkable. Jiu-Jitsu has made me a better person in all aspects of my life and I’m grateful for every day I’m able to train.

Bio: Jayson began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2018 and immediately fell in love with the sport. Since that time, he has had the opportunity to train at a number of schools around Ottawa in which he’s learned a lot and established great friendships in the community.
